The Attention and Information Age

How the attention age is viewed? It is common to point to certain important events in history, talk of 'eras'. We have become accustomed to the "industrial era", the "atomic age", the "space age" and now the "internet age" a paradigm shift that many business owners have yet managed to embrace. But that shock is often not very durable as the economy is awakening traditional advertisers. The most significant discoveries in any field, hold the attention for a while, come to determine an age, then the wave of innovations that emerges here and there fade from a memory to a fact and substitutes what was once considered the way of doing business.

The eras overlap each other, and still suspect that there is a clear competition to highlight and take care of the people and governments. So much so that we can not set dates for these historical periods, at most, we can locate them within a century or individual decades in a century. If we say we are now in the "information age - attention age", you'd be relatively certain. In part, because this shares its boom with others that still remain at the top due to their aggressive advertising budget, small to midsize business owners are looking how to draw attention to their business using the internet.

What once was considered foolish or looked at as a game for kids has now turned into the main focus of interactivity from user generated content. Everything from content, videos, blogging, social media and surveys has now turned into a database of information that allows business owners to understand what the consumer thinks and what their concerns are when shopping local, regional or international.  Using consumer generated content allows for smalller businesses to know what works and doesn't and how can they improve or fix a situation as quickly as possible. This saves time and money.

Since the information age was launched, there were many explanations about what is information. Far from the simple tasks of making things known are made into a thousand theories about what facts you must disclose, how, when, who, through what means. We agree that information is giving someone knowledge. We agree that the way of reporting has varied considerably over time, but it is also true that there has always been information systems, while currently it's faster and has a larger scope, what's left to discuss is whether it is more perfect but more sophisticated.
